Mark Allen Grothe was born June 2, 1956, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of August William and Joanne (Vinge) Grothe. Mark was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church. He grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School. On March 20, 1982, Mark was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Rogers at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with two children. Together, Mark and Carolyn were able to share in 27 years of marriage. Mark and his family lived in the Twin Cities until 1993, when they moved back to Benson. He worked at Lor'al, Lorenz and Hancock Concrete. He was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Among the things he enjoyed were gardening, riding motorcycle and hunting. Mark was called from this life on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at his home. He attained the age of 52 years, 10 months and 21 days. Mark is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Benson; his children: Tracy Grothe (Brent Goodwin) of Rose City and Daniel Grothe of the Twin Cities; one grandchild, Josh and one on the way; his parents August and Joanne Grothe of Benson; siblings: Julie Grothe ( Peter Wayne) of Minneapolis, Steve (Kristi) Grothe of Starbuck, Janice (Chuck) Lee of Oregon, and Jeanine (Jon) Bowman of Sunburg; and other relatives and friends. Preceding Mark in death were his brother William Grothe; his grandparents, aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred by the family.
