Obituary

Martin B. WoodObituary Martin Bradford Wood was born August 17, 1916, in Paynesville, Minnesota, the son of Clarence and Mabel (Clark) Wood. He married Hildagard "Toots" Wald on July 27, 1946, in Litchfield, Minnesota. Martin served his country in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II. He also did construction work at Thule Airbase in Greenland. After his discharge, he did construction work for T. F. Murphy of Murdock and Johnson Bros. in Minneapolis for many years until his retirement at age 66. Martin was a member of the Benson VFW and the local 49ers Union. Among the things he enjoyed were fishing, carpentry, travel, and was a jack of all trades. Martin was called from this life on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Clara City Care Center in Clara City, Minnesota. He attained the age of 92 years, 4 months and 14 days. Martin is survived by his wife, Hildagard "Toots" Wood of Murdock; his children Karen (Bill) Eckhart of Murdock, Brad (Cindy Gafkjen) Wood of Murdock, Dennis (Sue Aaberg) Wood of Gautier, MS, Douglas (Patty Osterbauer) Wood of Minneapolis, Beverly (Galen) Henjum of Kerkhoven; one brother Raymond of Litchfield; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clarence and Mabel; and a brother Allen Wood. funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. saturday january 10, 2009 at calvary lutheran church in Murdock with pastor reed egerstrom officiating. burial will be at a later date at the Minnesota State Veteran's cemetery in little falls, minnesota. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service at the Church
