Mary "Mollie" Loretta Swanberg, was born on February 4, 1918, in Kildare Township, Swift County, Minnesota, to parents James and Loretta Commerford Sullivan. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. She attended grade school in DeGraff and graduated from Benson High School in 1936. On November 04, 1947, she was united in marriage to Howard Swanberg at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson by the Father Russell Doerrer. Together they were able to share in 42 years if marriage. This union was blessed with one daughter Mary. They settled in Benson. Mary worked at Swift County welfare office from 1938 to 1948 and at the Swift County Monitor newspaper from 1948 to 1985. She was known to many as Granny and enjoyed visiting with anyone who wanted to chat. She also enjoyed reading, watching TV, gardening, and flowers. Granny loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids and all of their activities. She was a member of St. Francis family groups and the VFW Post 1403 Auxiliary. She was called from this life on February 26, 2010, at the Southview Manor in Benson. She attained the age of 92 years and 22 days. Mollie is survived by her daughter Mary (Tim) McGinty of Benson; a grand son Pete McGinty; a grand daughter Melissa (Nathan) Thompson; and three great grandchildren, Leah, Sam, and Mollie. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Loretta, brothers Russell, James, and Maurice.
