Mathew ?George? Berres, Sr. was born on May 11, 1939 in Lakeville, Minnesota, the son of Mathew and Veronica Berres. He grew up in Clara City and attended Clara City Sister School. On July 13, 1973, he was united in marriage to Alice Peerboom by Father Cooney in Clontarf, Minnesota. This union was blessed with four children, twenty-seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Together they were able to share in more than 39 years of marriage. They made their home in Benson and George worked at Jennie-O, TCI and Fingerhut. He enjoyed fishing in his free time. George attained the age of 73 years, 5 month, and 7 days. He is survived by his wife, Alice; stepchildren, Diana Ahrndt of Clontarf, Susan (Mike) Miller of Olivia, Theodore Doll of Benson, Scott Doll of Benson, and Maria Lundebrek of Benson; children, Vicki (Elias) Fuentes of Willmar, Mathew Berres, Jr. of Benson, Gina (Mark) Whitcup of Benson, and Joseph Berres of Benson; twenty-seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Thiesen of Clara City, and Michael Thiesen of Clara City; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, Mathew and Veronica Berres; stepson, Todd Doll; and infant grandchild, William Lundebrek.
