Michael Kennedy passed from this life to begin his eternal journey, Saturday, October 24, 2020. A man of courage, strength, love and wisdom, Mike leaves, a daughter Mary Kennedy-Sigmundi; sons, James Kennedy and David Kennedy, all of Florida; Mother, Janet Kennedy of Indiana; a sister, Peggy Lenzendorf of Wisconsin; brothers, Patrick Kennedy of Indiana and Steve Kennedy of Florida; thirteen living grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by loving wife, Mary Ball Kennedy of 49 years; Father, Jim Kennedy; brother, Danny Kennedy and granddaughter Madison Kennedy.
Mike was a fun-loving guy in every way. His children and grandchildren were always at the top of his list in everything-well-after his devoted and loving wife, Mary, of course; his forever love. He has reunited with her, and for this our hearts rejoice. Mike will be sorely missed. A man of few words in most situations, but, when he spoke, "everyone listened." His sage advice came from many different contexts. You could count on straight talk, analogies, epigrams, politics, sports-especially the Rays and lots of laughter. A smile as big as his heart, Mike never judged a living soul. He embraced everyone with open arms, heart and mind. He was a living example of a tolerance, while living his personal convictions with love to mankind. A patriotic, all-American man, Mike served our country in the United States Navy, from which he retired with honors, and the highest enlisted rank. Our gratitude for his well-rounded, well lived and shared life with all who knew him.
Mike leaves us a testament to how a good and successful life is to be lived. He displayed honesty, prudence, life-long learning, and he loved like he had never been hurt. Loved by family, co-workers, golfing buddies and brave military veteran comrades, an empty place fills our hearts, and he will never be forgotten.
