Michael 'Mick' Madden was born March 26, 1943 in Benson, Minnesota to Michael and Viola (Feldhake) Madden and lived in the DeGraff - Benson area all his life. He became a member of the National Guard after graduating from Benson High School in 1962. He was united in marriage to Patti Vlach on May 14, 1966 and dairy farmed the first years, then worked some years for Marcus Building Construction. In May 1988, he completed the Human Service Technician course at Ridgewater and was employed by Prairie Community Services until last September when he retired due to his health. Mick's interests were playing softball, fishing, horseshoe, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. His five grandchildren were his pride and joy. He always said he maybe wasn't the best dad in the world, but intended to be the best grandpa. Mick died on Monday, June 20, 2011 from ALS. He was at Southview Manor in Benson, where he had resided for the last two weeks. Mick attained the age of 68 years, 2 months and 24 days. Mick is survived by his wife Patti of Benson; daughter Leah (Kent) Erickson of Mankato; sons Ryan (Dawn) Madden of Benson and Wade (special friend Deanne) Madden of Lakeville; his sister Pat (Bob) Fieblekorn of Andover; and grandchildren: Brittany, Brady, and Brooklyn Madden, Jacob and Sami Erickson; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Jerry; sister-in-law Lois; and nephew Scott Madden.
