Michael John Masterson, age 82, of Apollo Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 9, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Florissant, a suburb of St. Louis. He was the son of the late Joseph C. Masterson and Ruth M. (Fiesmeyer) Masterson. He was a 1961 graduate of Chaminade High School and, following graduation, proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. During his tour of duty at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, he met the love of his life, Mary. Michael later earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Missouri.
Before relocating to Florida in 2015, Michael resided in Maryland with his family. He built a long and successful career in the office supplies industry with Whitaker Brothers in Rockville, Maryland.
Michael was a devoted parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Ruskin, Florida, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, East Hillsborough District.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Norath, in 2019.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his daughter, Ann Marie Shaw, and her husband, Robert, of Apollo Beach; his son, Aaron, of Ames, Iowa; his two grandsons, Brandon Shaw and his wife, Fernanda, and Dylan Shaw; his brother-in-law, John Graham, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the holiday season, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Ruskin, Florida, on January 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Ruskin, Florida.
