Michael ("Mike") Edward McAndrew, 75, of Sun City Center, Florida passed away on Tuesday,
December 10, 2024, after a brief illness. Born in Allentown, PA, on December 28, 1948, he is the son of the late James H. and Agnes E. (Morgan) McAndrew.
Michael, a 1966 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, entered the military in that same year. He honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Mike and his former wife Kay E. McAndrew met in 1983, married in 1984, and settled in Hamburg, PA. They became foster parents through the Berks County Children and Youth Department in Reading, PA, and over 18 years fostered numerous children and were fortunate enough to adopt five girls.
Before his passing he celebrated 50 years of sobriety and was a proud member of the AA community.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his beautiful family, including daughters, Tanya (Brandon)
Croslin, Mackenzie, and Anna; his former wife, Kay McAndrew and her children Michael and Melissa
(William) Baker; his sister-in-law, Dorothy McAndrew; his nieces, Kelly (John) Phillip, and Kim (Greg) Gasda; nephew, Patrick; sister, Patricia Hobby; his devoted best friend, Karetha Times-Ray; and his loving companion, Theresa Snipe, who will care for his faithful dog Amy.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother James McAndrew and his daughter Pauline
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Sarasota National
Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida 34241.
