Obituary

Myrna Vynette Remund, the eldest of eleven children, was born December 5, 1920, at Wilmot, SD to Otis Walter and Elizabeth Irene (Babb) King. She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Wilmot, SD. Myrna attended country schools and graduated in 1938 from Wilmot High School.On September 23, 1941, she was married to Lester Lyle Remund at Sisseton, SD. Myrna began working as a telephone operator while in high school and continued until her marriage to Lester. Lester and Myrna farmed near Wilmot until 1966 when they purchased the Gambles Hardware Store in Appleton. Myrna worked everyday at the store until its' closing in 1988. She then worked for a number of years at Pioneer Public TV in Appleton.Myrna's biggest joy were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going for car rides in the country to see the wildlife and the progress of the crops. She was a very steadfast person and her family always looked to her for guidance. She was a member of several different organizations over the years in the Wilmot area and the Appleton area.Myrna died on Friday evening, November 18th, at Appleton Area Health Services. She had attained 90 years, 11 months, and 14 days of age.She is survived by three children: June Vinderslev of Appleton, Russell Remund of Appleton, and Ruth Ann (Mike) Drotzman of Yankton, SD; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lorelie Remund, of St. Cloud; three brothers: Leslie "Bud" (Bert) King of KS, Roger (Gayle) King of Melrose, MN, and Franklin (Cele) King of Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters: Donna DeVille of AZ, Shirley Thompson of MO, and Barbara (Jim) Madison of Browns Valley, MN; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester, on September 8, 1982; her son, Marlo, on December 23, 2010; son-in-law, Daryl Vinderslev, in 2005; two sisters: Beverly King and Alta McNish; and two brothers: Merton "Sonny" King, and Wendell King.
