Obituary

On March 23 Jesus took his angel home.
She was Mama, Grandma Nan, Aunt Nan and Nonnie to so many,
the love they had for her and her love for others will never be forgotten.

Nan was born November 6, 1919 to James C. and
Annie Hewett Buzbee and lived for 70 years in the Ruskin area,
she then moved to Levy County, residing there for 26 years.
She first married the love of her life, Charles E. Pitts of Georgia.
Charles and Nan lived and raised their children in Ruskin,
where Charles became a tomato farmer and cattle rancher.
Tragedy struck in 1963, when Charles died, leaving Nan a widow.
Nan, being the strong southern belle that she was, stepped up,
with her sons and continued running the farm,
until eventually her sons took over.
During this time, she took on the task of raising
her only two grandchildren at the time, Jenny and Sheila.

A devout Christian, she brought her children and
granddaughters up in the Baptist church, and lived by her faith daily.
Raising her granddaughters they called her Mama, never Grandmother,
as she was the only mother they had.
She loved hunting and fishing, spending
summer's in Okeechobee and winters at Gulf Hammock.
She instilled in her children and grandchildren a love
for the outdoors and the simpler things in life.
Nan remained a widow until 1988, when she married Mabry A. Hagin.
They both lived their lives to the fullest, in each others company,
doing the things that they both loved.
Together they would sit by the campfire,
go through the woods looking for "lighter pine" or
their favorite past time, playing cards.
They loved family and would host, what came to be
called The Wild Meat Fest, a birthday celebration for Nan.
Family and friends would travel for hours to attend.
After the death of Mabry, Nan would spend time with her beloved sister, Lillian.
They would visit back and forth, travel, and do everything together.
There was no greater bond between two sisters, than the one that Lillian and Nan shared.
The last 8 years of her life, she lived with her eldest son, Edward and his wife, Linda.
She was active and enjoyed her walks, cooking and playing
Text Twist but when her health started to fail, Linda, Edward,
a dedicated Hospice Nurse and CNA's took care of her through her final years.
They were by her side whenever she needed them.
Words cannot express the love, admiration and gratitude
that is felt for what they did for our mama.

Nan is survived by her sons,
Charles E. And Linda Pitts, Morriston, Fl;
James R. And Sandy Pitts, Alabama;
