Olive Grace Forbord was born on November 21, 1925 in Starbuck, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Minnie (Bakko) Lingen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck. Olive attended country school in White Bear Lake Township and graduated from Starbuck High School with the Class of 1943. She attended one year of training at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, Washington, then returned to Minnesota where she worked as a bookkeeper at the Starbuck Creamery. On June 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Adlore LeVerne Forbord. This union was blessed with five children. Olive was a loyal companion and wife to Adlore for 62 years. They farmed in Langhei Township, rural Benson. Olive was very involved with the farm operation as well as being very committed to East Zion Lutheran Church. She was the church organist for 33 years, taught Sunday school, led Bible studies and prayed for a multitude of people during her 84 years. She enjoyed traveling in 32 states, to China, the former USSR, and Norway. She appreciated classical music and enjoyed immensely when her children & grandchildren performed. Olive was also very active with the local 4-H club. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and all of God's creation. She especially loved serving others in many different capacities. She was called from this life on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. She attained the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 1 day old. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Adlore, their five children Oronah (Steve) Hanson of Virginia Beach, VA, Allan (Betty Torres) Forbord of Lakeville, Luverne (MaryJo) Forbord of Starbuck, Grace (Eric Steen) Forbord of Brainerd, and Philip (Chrysees) Forbord of Benson; her 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren with a new one expected in January; 2 sisters, Marie Odegaard of Starbuck and Ida (Myron) Forbord of Benson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Minnie; one sister, Blanche Remington; 2 brothers, Gerhard Lingen and Clifford Lingen; and a beloved grandson Joraan Forbord.
