Major Orvis O. (Bud) Gaughf, Jr. USMC Ret. 87, of Sun City Center, died 24 November 2009. Survived by his wife, Ruth E. Gaughf; sons Orvis O. III & Phillip I.; daughters Alicia Westgate & Karen Cvetkovich; daughter-in-law Debbie; 3 nieces; 5 grandsons; 4 granddaughters; 3 great-grandsons; and 2 great-granddaughters. Enlisted in the Navy 18 August 1942, went to the Army Air Corp, returned to the Navy to attend flight school and became a Marine Aviator on 20 April 1953 upon earning his wings. Among his numerous accomplishments, he served 4 years as a USMC test pilot and 2 years as a member of the Royal Air Force. He earned the National Defense Service Medal with 1 star, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal and the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge. He was a member of the Retired USMC Association, M.O.A.A., American Legion, and U.S.G.A. He was the Falcon Watch Golf Club champion 5 consecutive years and had 8 holes-in-one. Memorial Service T.B.D.
