Obituary

Pearl Ida Buyck was born May 31, 1920 to Louis H.R. and Mathilda (Sackschewsky) Noding on her parents' farm in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, Westbrook, Minnesota. She was baptized by Rev. O.J. Wolff at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Westbrook, Minnesota and confirmed into the Christian faith in 1934 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook by Rev. Kreiger. She attended rural country school and graduated from Westbrook High School as valedictorian in 1937. Pearl graduated from American Business College in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1940 she accepted a position as receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. John V. Carlson, M.D. in Westbrook where she worked for four years. Pearl was united in marriage to John R. Buyck on April 10, 1944, in Windom, Minnesota. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage and three children. After their marriage, they farmed near Walnut Grove until 1950, when they moved to Swift County where they farmed full time until 1984. They moved to Benson, Minnesota in 1984 and continued to help out on the farm for many years thereafter. Pearl was the Assessor for Tara Township, Swift County from 1974 until 2004. John passed away in June of 2010. Pearl was involved in a car accident one month later and was moved to the Benedictine Center Innsbruck in New Brighton for therapy in August of 2010. Pearl enjoyed farming, gardening, reading, studying her Bible, going to various activities of her grandchildren, and playing cards with her neighbors. Pearl kept a daily log of her life and farming activities. Pearl was called from this life after a lengthy and hard fought battle from injuries and complications of the car accident on Monday, November 15, 2010 Pearl is survived by three children: Cynthia and Dr. Ed Chua of North Oaks, Jon Scott Buyck of Edina, and Boyd and Patricia (Keen) Buyck of Danvers; seven grandchildren: Erika and George Hawkins, Dr. Angela and Dr. David Tridgell, Matthew and Erica (Anderson) Chua, Jeanine Buyck, Kathryn Buyck, Mark Buyck and Maggie Rose Buyck; two great grandchildren: Anna Hawkins and Eli Hawkins; one sister, Nora Nesbitt of Minneapolis; one brother, Eugene Noding of Brooklyn Center; and sisters-in-law Bonnie Noding of Phoenix, AZ, Kathryn Swoffer of Sleepy Eye, and Vera Langfedt of Slayton; and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband John R. Buyck; her parents Louis H.R. and Mathilda; a sister, Dora Schmitz; and brothers: Alfred Noding, Orville Noding, Louis Noding and Nelson Noding.
