Obituary

On the morning of August 9, 2019, Randi Zalesak Greenhough passed away at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was 56 years old.

Randi was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 18, 1962. She was the second child and first daughter born to Eileen and Emil Zalesak.

The family moved from the crowded streets of downtown Brooklyn for the open country setting of Staten Island in the early 70s. Here Randi's love of life flourished. As a teenager, Randi's personality served her well as a candy striper at Edgar's Nursing Home. She brightened the days of both the patients and staff.

After graduating from Susan Wagner High School in 1980, Randi worked on Wall Street in New York City and held several roles. In the spring of 1987, she met Peter Greenhough during her lunch break, and the two quickly fell in love. The couple left for England, and after two years of romance they returned to the states to be married in 1989.

Randi and Peter then settled in his home town of Borrow upon Soar where they raised their three children. Randi always said that her kids, Sean, Richard, and Jazmin, were her life's greatest accomplishments. She was very proud of them and the adults they grew to be become.

Randi and Peter separated in the late 90s, and Randi returned to the states where she reunited with her mother in Staten Island. She later moved with friends to Lewes, Delaware. After a few years she moved to be closer to her cousins in Cary, North Carolina. She then moved further south with friends to Charlotte, South Carolina. Randi spent this past year with her mother in Sun City Center, Florida, where she mended a broken foot.

Randi enjoyed life and having a good time with friends. She wanted to meet and personally know everyone. She was always quick to offer help to anyone that needed it; she had previously assisted helping clean her friend's apartment in NYC after "9-11", complaining later in life about health issues.

Randi had an infectious laugh, and her larger than life presence commanded a big audience. It wasn't a party until Randi arrived. She was never one to blend into the background. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Randi is survived by her ex-husband Peter Greenhough, her three children Sean, Rich and Jazmin; her father Emil T. Zalesak (pre-deceased); mother Eileen Zalesak, brother Emil E. Zalesak, sister Kari D. Zalesak, and her close cousins Margie and Rudolph (Rudy) Zalesak.

There will be a celebration of life held with family and friends at the Kings Point South Club House in Sun City Center on August 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations in Randi's name to be made to a Woman's Shelter place of your choice.
