Obituary
Raymond Eric Gavens, 83, of Wimauma, Florida, died November 30th, 2025, in Sun City Center, Florida.
He was born in Rochester, NY in 1942 to Eric and Josephine Gavens, where his love for cars and stringed instruments originated. He attended Miami Jackson High and then joined the United States Air Force as a jet plane mechanic. He later attended Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida, where he studied engineering. Ray went on to work for and retire from Florida Power & Light.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife Charlene, his daughter, Heather, and his grandson, William.
Ray served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1972. Ray was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He later was in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for many years. Donations to Cavalry Lutheran Church are appreciated.
