Raymond Gerald Geyer was born September 25, 1938 in Tara Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Lawrence and Cecilia (Rakowski) Geyer. On July 9, 1960, Ray was united in marriage to Anna Peerboom. The couple was blessed with six children and 50 years of marriage. Ray worked hauling flax straw. He also worked for Benson Creamery hauling milk, for Case Tyler, and he farmed. Among the things he enjoyed were horseback riding, hunting, repairing saddles, and repairing things. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Ortonville trail ride. Ray was called from this life on Friday, September 10, 2010 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He attained the age of 71 years, 11 months and 15 days. Ray is survived by his wife Anna of Benson; his children: Pamela Tackett (special friend Shawn Ahrndt) of Appleton, Richard Geyer of Benson, Karen Geyer (special friend Philip Skarsten) of Benson, James Geyer (special friend Karen Miller) of Appleton, Patrick (Tammy) Geyer of Appleton, John Geyer (special friend Missy Wooden) of Benson; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one brother Roger Geyer of Ham Lake. Preceding him in death were his parents; infant brother James; and sister-in-law Betty Geyer.
