Raymond Charles Schaaf was born April 23, 1920, in Dublin Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Frank V. and Katherine (Commerford) Schaaf. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. He grew up in Dublin Township and attended school in Murdock. On September 20, 1943, Raymond was united in marriage to Margaret Goggin at St. Bridgets Catholic Church in De Graff. They were blessed with four children and 60 years of marriage. Margaret passed away in June of 2004. Raymond farmed just east of Murdock until 1967. He then went to work for the Murdock grain elevator and later Swift Manufacturing until his retirement in 1981. He moved into Murdock in 1970 and to Park View Manor in 1994. Raymond was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock and volunteered for the Murdock Fire Department. He was called from this life on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Meadow Lane Golden Living Health Care Center in Benson. He attained the age of 89 years, 7 months and 6 days. Raymond is survived by his children: Donna Terwey of Grand Rapids, John (Paulette) Schaaf of Coon Rapids, Jerome Schaaf of Farmington, and Teresa (Leland) Romann of Perham; seven grandchildren: Dawn Terwey, Dale Schaaf, Tim Schaaf, Chris Romann, Rob Schaaf, Alicia Romann, and Joe Romann; four great grandchildren: Breanna Terwey, Josephine Schaaf, Autumn Schaaf, and Connor Williams; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his wife Margaret; his parents, Frank and Katherine; siblings: Wm Schaaf, Annetta Flynn, Donald Schaaf, Edward Schaaf, Thomas Schaaf, and Bernice Gustafson.
