Robert (Bob) Isaac Mather, 92, of Sun City Center, FL, died on June 29, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Patricia Mather, of Sun City Center. Bob was born in Princeton, NJ, to George and Mable (Rogers) Mather. He played football for Blair Academy and the University of Virginia, later graduating from the Philadelphia School of Textiles and Design. He was a commissioned lieutenant in the United States Army, serving in Europe during World War II. In 1943, he married Jocelyn (Northfield) Mather, who preceded him to Heaven on October 21, 2010.
Prior to retirement, Bob held various administrative, research, and sales positions in the textile industry. He lived in Sun City Center from 1975 to 2005, and from October 2011 until his death on June 29, 2012. During his early years living in Sun City Center, he was a golfer and volunteer at Shriners Hospital for Children, also joining his wife in volunteer work for Hospice and the Mary & Martha House. A memorial service will be held for Robert and Jocelyn Mather in September at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Sun City Center. Their ashes will be placed in the Sarasota Veterans' Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or to the University of Iowa Foundation for use by the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
