Robert D. Sylvester, 95, of Apollo Beach, Fla. Passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Sun City Center Hospice House with his loving great-niece Jennifer Parmentier at his side.
Born in Cohoes, New York on July 26, 1920, he was predeceased by his 32 year old son, John Sylvester and his loving wife of 64 years Hedy, his brother, Eugene Sylvester and his sister-in-law Susan Sylvester. He served in the Army in World War II then he became a union carpenter in New York also taking on the role of recording secretary for that union. After retiring in 1982 he moved to Apollo Beach, Florida then became involved in teaching water aerobics for the Arthritics Foundation. He was an avid swimmer, most importantly he loved his Lord, his family and his friends.
He is survived by a nephew and niece, Randy and Yvonne Richens of Riverview and great-nephew and niece Christopher and Jennifer Parmentier and their daughter, Juliana of Valrico, Fla, great-nephew Jonathon Richens of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, nephew and niece Steve and Kathy Sylvester and great niece, Kristy Sylvester; great-nephews, Michael and Timmy Sylvester of S. Farmingdale, N.Y.
"Uncle Bob" will be greatly missed by all of us, a tribute for him will be held at Simmons Loop Baptist Church – 6610 Simmons Loop Road, Riverview, FL 33578.
In lieu of flowers contributions will be used to purchase Gideon Bibles in "Uncle Bobs" name.
