Obituary

Robert Fred Thompson was born December 10, 1931 in Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Fred W. and Charlotte (Klyver) Thompson. He was baptized on May 24, 1949 by Pastor G.A. Dickson at his parent's home, and confirmed into the Christian faith on March 25, 1956 by Pastor Herbert Wians at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Benson. He grew up in Swift County and attended school at District #59 through the eighth grade. Robert served his country in the United States Army from 1953 - 55 during the Korean Conflict. On October 7, 1953, Robert was united in marriage to Beatrice Irene Hoffman at St. Mark's Lutheran Church by Rev. E.T. Meichsner. They were blessed with three children and 57 years of marriage. Robert was employed at Tyler Mfg., Lorenz Mfg. and TCI. He was a life member of the VFW Post #1403. Among the things he enjoyed were gardening, driving tractor and going to auctions. Robert was called from this life on Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Swift County Benson Hospital. He attained the age of 79 years 2 months and 4 days. Robert is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Benson; his children: Susan (Ray) Brackman of St. Paul, Linda Thompson of New Hope, and Alan Thompson of Benson; a brother, Donald (Edith) Thompson of Willmar; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents.
