Obituary

Robert Warren Winger was born on December 17, 1915, in Akron Township, Big Stone County, to Martin and Hattie (Engleman) Winger. He was baptized on April 23, 1916, and confirmed in 1929 at Grace Lutheran Church in Correll. Robert graduated as valedictorian in 1933 from Correll High School.Robert was a lifetime farmer who never retired. He enjoyed reading, wildlife, visiting with family and friends, hunting and fishing, playing softball and baseball with the Correll teams, attending antique tractor shows, playing cards, and listening to the radio. He enjoyed spending time with his great-great-grandnieces.During his life Robert sang with the Correll's men's choir. He was involved with many community boards: Appleton Co-Op Creamery Board of Directors, DHIA, and the Hampshire Hog Association. He was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church and held several of the church offices over the years. Robert was very kind, giving, and strong willed. He served as a "grandpa" to Justin, Hatti, Kaylee, and Megan.He is survived by his sister, Marion Schwandt, of Minnetonka; nephew, Randall (Sandra) Bakeberg, of Correll; four great-nieces and nephews: Justin (Rachel) Bakeberg, Hatti (Ryan) Moeller, Kaylee (John) Ball, and Megan Bakeberg (fiancé Nicholas Hastad); four great-great-nieces and nephews: Avery Moeller and Natalie, Savana and Maraya Ball; other family and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bertrum Winger; two sisters: Neola Bakeberg and Nora Bergseth; and several other relatives.
