Romelia Becerra López, madre, abuela, bisabuela y tatarabuela, falleció el 10 de abril de 2026 en Gibsonton, Florida.

Romelia, hija de Severnia López y Leocadio Becerra, nació el 16 de marzo de 1937 en Burgos, Tamaulipas. Creció en Méndez, Tamaulipas, junto a sus 11 hermanos. Los padres de Romelia fallecieron antes que ella, al igual que nueve de sus hermanos: Leocadio, Baldemar, Silverio, Leonel, René, Eufemia, Aida, Hermelinda y Beatriz "Bella".

En 1951, Romelia se caso con Bonifacio Valdez y comenzó a formar una gran familia. Fueron padres dedicados y juntos dieron la bienvenida a 10 hijos. Veintiún años después de su matrimonio, Bonifacio falleció el 16 de diciembre de 1972, dejando a Romelia viuda. Aunque nunca volvió a casarse, Romelia dedicó su vida a criar a sus hijos en el rancho "Luz María", donde vivieron con familia extendida. Cuando sus hijos se independizaron y se mudaron a diferentes partes del norte de México y de los Estados Unidos, Romelia se mudó a su propia casa en Francisco González Villarreal, Tamaulipas. Con el paso del tiempo, cuando sus hijos ya tenían sus propios hijos, Romelia pasó varios años viajando entre su hogar, Tejas y Florida para seguir compartiendo tiempo con su familia y ayudar en la crianza de sus nietos. Romelia fue una mujer de firmes valores y principios, los cuales inculcó tanto a sus hijos como a sus nietos.

Romelia fue precedida en la muerte por tres de sus hijos: Agustín en 2010, Sergio "Checo" en 2015 y Jorge en 2018.

Le sobreviven dos hermanos menores: María y José "Chuy" Becerra López. Romelia deja un legado de empatía, amor y hospitalidad en sus siete hijos sobrevivientes — Miguel, Ana María, Víctor, Julio, María Isabel, José y Dora Nelly — así como en sus 29 nietos, 39 bisnietos y un tataranieto.

Romelia vivió una vida rodeada de familia: primero junto a sus hermanos; luego con sus hijos en rancho Luz María; más tarde, mientras viajaba entre dos países; y, finalmente, cuando siguió a sus hijos y se estableció en Florida. Continuó rodeada de una familia que la amaba profundamente hasta su último aliento.

Romelia Becerra López, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, died on April 10, 2026 in Gibsonton, Florida.

Romelia was born on March 16, 1937 in Burgos, Tamaulipas to Severnia Lopez and Leocadio Becerra. She was raised in Mendez, Tamaulipas along with her 11 siblings. Romelia’s parents preceded her death, as well as nine of her siblings: Leocadio, Baldemar, Silverio, Leonel, Rene, Eufemia, Aida, Hermelinda, and Beatriz “Bella”.

In 1951, Romelia married Bonifacio Valdez and began to create a big family. They were devoted parents and welcomed 10 children together. Twenty-one years into their marriage, Bonifacio died on December 16, 1972 and Romelia was widowed. Though she never remarried, she dedicated her life to raising her children at the family ranch, Luz Maria, where they were lived with extended family. When her children moved out and scattered through parts of northern Mexico and the United States, Romelia moved into her own home in Francisco González Villarreal, Tamaulipas. Eventually, when her children had their own children, Romelia spent several years traveling between her home to Texas and to Florida to continue spending time with her family and help raise her grandchildren. Romelia was a woman of values and instilled them in her children and grandchildren.

Romelia was preceded in death by three of her sons: Agustín in 2010, Sergio “Checo” in 2015 and Jorge in 2018.

She is survived by two younger siblings, Maria and Jose “Chuy” Becerra López. Romelia leaves a legacy of empathy, love and hospitality in her seven surviving children — Miguel, Ana Maria, Víctor, Julio, Maria Isabel, Jose and Dora Nelly — 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Romelia lived a life surrounded by family, first her siblings, then her children, at the Luz Maria ranch, when she traveled through two countries, and when she eventually followed her children and settled in Florida. She continued to be surrounded by family who loved her deeply until her last breath.
