Sigvald Marvin Hanson was born June 30, 1930, in Hegbert Township, Swift County, to parents Matt and Signe (Johnson) Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed at Long Lake Lutheran Church. Sig attended rural schools and graduated from Appleton High School. Sig served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict from1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. On February 20, 1971, he married Alice E. Anderson at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton... Sig farmed the family farm for several years and then worked for various farmers in the area. For several years he worked for Appleton Farm Chemical. Sig enjoyed visiting, being with his family, playing cards, and gardening.He died on Sunday morning, October 16th, at the Hennepin County Medical Center. He had attained 81 years, 3 months, and 16 days of age.He is survived by his son, William (Ann) Hanson, of Appleton; two grandsons: Rusty and John Madsen; sister, Helen Zimmerman, of Brooklyn Center; brother, Rueben (Sharon) Hanson, of Benson; sister-in-law, Eunice Hanson, of Marshall; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice, on May 9, 2010; brother, Harold Hanson; and brother-in-law, Marvin Zimmerman.
