Obituary

Thomas E. Durant passed away at the age of 95 on May 17, 2019 in Sun City Center, FL. He was born on October 4, 1923 in New Haven, CT, son of the late Thomas Eugene Durant and Louise Sanders Durant. He was married to Mary Potter Durant for 72 years until her death in 2016. Tom lived in Ansonia and Woodbridge, CT before moving to Windham, NH in 1986 and then to Sun City Center, FL in 2012. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theater with the Flying Tigers. He worked as a welder and powerhouse operator at Farrel Birmingham Corporation in Ansonia, CT until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, ice skating, and woodworking. Tom supported his wife's volunteer work for veterans at the Manchester, NH VA Hospital and throughout the state.

Tom was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Korn and her husband, Cliff, of Sun City Center, FL; grandsons, Gregory Korn and his wife, Lola. of Goffstown, NH and Douglas Korn and his wife, Stacy, of Franklin, TN; and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Alison, Arielle and Thomas.

Tom was a member of the American Legion and a 65-year member of the George Washington Masonic Lodge in Ansonia, CT. His quiet manner, wise counsel, and care and devotion to his family and friends will long be remembered.

Burial will take place at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia, CT.
