Valeida Hazel Anderson was born on January 4, 1917, near Goodwin, Deuel County, South Dakota at home to Edward and Edith (Stevenson) Benson. She attended country school and Ortonville High School while living with her sister, Malvina.She was married to Maurice Ellsworth Anderson on September 27, 1941, at Clinton, MN. They lived in Alexandria, Glenwood and Ortonville, before moving to Appleton in 1950. She worked in many restaurants through out her life. She and her husband owned and operated the Village Inn Restaurant and Maury's Mobil in Appleton for several years.Valeida's pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and working with flowers in her garden.Valeida died on Monday morning, November 28, at Appleton Area Health Services. She had attained 94 years, 10 months, and 24 days of age.She is survived by two children: Virgil (Julie) Anderson of Benson and Virginia (John) Polden of Elk River; five grandchildren: Jeff (Jessica) Anderson, Ryan (Molly) Anderson, Jodi Anderson and her friend John Jensen, Scott Martin and his friend Micaela Rice, and Danielle (Jared) Helget; nine great-grandchildren: Noah and Liam Anderson, Tristen and Kinnly Jensen, Brooke and Taylor Helget, Jaeden Rice, and Kiley and Tayley Martin; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice, on July 10, 1981; and all of her brothers and sisters.
