Obituary

Vera Mae Perseke was born October 17, 1916, in Appleton Township, Swift County to parents George and Sarah (Swenneker) Schirm. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church at Correll. Vera attended country school at the Goldenrod School through the eighth grade.November 13, 1941, she was married to Rueben Ben Perseke. They farmed and hauled livestock by Appleton and Correll until his death in 1975. Vera made her home in Appleton in 1975 where she lived in her home until her death. Vera was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, taking care of the grandchildren, and particularly enjoyed teaching her children how to dance around the kitchen table.Vera died on Sunday, September 4, at Appleton Area Health Services. She had attained 94 years, 10 months, and 17 days of age.She is survived by four children: Arlo (Pam) Perseke of Appleton, Linda Perseke of Milan, Patty (Ron) Kohlman of O Neill, Nebraska, and Barbara Rutland of Appleton; 14 grandchildren: Theresa Perseke, Rhonda Smith, Michael Perseke, Tracy (Chyde) Strand, Danny (Lori) Perseke, Amanda (Dan) Modrow, Rachel Kohlman, Christina (Dustin) Watson, Aaron Kohlman, Jacob Kohlman, Nathan (Anngee) Rutland, Nicholas Rutland, Jason (Kelsey) Rutland, and Cali Jo Olson; 18 great-grandchildren: Brianna, Carson, Jacob, JoAnna, Teagan, Jordin, Wyatt, Whitney, Waylon, Chauncey, Cash, Croix, Jamison, Ayden, Faith, Taylor, Owen and Rylie Jo; sister, Doris Iwerks, of Lakeville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Joyce Perseke of Tyler; sister-in-law, Doris Wilkening, of Appleton; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rueben; son: Danny in infancy and son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Kathy; granddaughter, Sarah Kohlman; grandson, Troy Perseke; sisters: Nora Schirm and Leona Gronholz; brothers: Alfred and Lawrence "Spud" Schirm; and brothers-in-law: Henry Iwerks and Wilbert Gronholz.
